Background and cases under the Jurisdiction of The Consumer Case Division of the Supreme Court

    The Consumer Case Division of the Supreme Court was established by the announcement of the Judicial Administrative Commission on the Appropriate and Efficient Establishment of Divisions in the Supreme Court announced on the 18 th day of July B.E. 2550 (2007) to adjudicate the Supreme Court cases relating to consumer cases including any civil cases as prescribed by the President of the Supreme Court.

     Cases within the jurisdiction of the Consumer Case Division of the Supreme Court according to section 3 of the Consumer Case Procedure Act B.E. 2551 (2008) are as follows:

  • (1) cases between a consumer or a consumer representative under section 19 or under other related law and a business operator having a dispute to legal rights or obligations related to consumption of goods or services
  • (2) civil cases under the law relating to liability for damages arising out of product liability
  • (3) civil cases relating to cases under (1) or (2);
  • (4) civil cases which are promulgated by the law to be under the Consumer Case Procedure Act.
